Recycled Plastic Bike Tools [2016]

A project initiated by observing huge volumes of waste plastics on my daily cycle to and from the workshop in Brighton. Flexible plastics are widely regarded as non-recyclable by UK councils, so I decided to start collecting the waste plastic that encountered on my daily commute. As the whole journey of this project started on my bike, I wanted to create a set of tools that would aid me in maintaining my bike through a process of revealing a new value in a worthless waste material. The collected plastic was sorted, cleaned, melted and then machined to produce beautifully crafted objects that will serve not only to perform a function, but also to reveal the hidden elegance of waste materials.
